CCAL #3 Recap: Varsity Girls Win League Championship

The Pitman Cross Country teams competed in CCAL #3 yesterday, which is their last regular season meet. All of the athletes did amazing on a cool, windy race day, with many athletes achieving "Personal Records" or PR's. (See below for more on that). Highlighting the day for Pitman was the Varsity Girls, who brought home the CCAL League Championship!

Roughrider Invitational Recap

The Boys and Girls Varsity Cross Country teams competed in the Roughrider Invitational on Friday. The teams ran on the difficult State Meet course at Woodward Park in Fresno in races that included 352 boys and 230 girls. The boys team placed 30th, with the top finisher, Julius Camacho, coming in at 17:09.

CCAL #2

The Pitman Cross Country teams competed in their second league meet of the year today. The Boys Varsity and Frosh-Soph teams both placed third, while the Frosh-Soph girls placed 4th. However, the big story of the day was the Varsity girls team who finished tied with cross-town rivals Turlock for 1st place. As the team waited anxiously to find out what happens if two teams tie, word came in that the tie breaker in scoring goes to the team’s 6th runner. The girls scanned the results and realized that Pitman’s Kayla Thompson finished two seconds ahead of Turlock’s 6th runner. Those 2 seconds secured the victory for the Pride, putting them one step closer to a league title. After finishing 1st in both CCAL races this year, they will need at least a 2nd place finish at CCAL #3 to be crowned champions.

Frogtown Recap

The Pitman XC team headed up to Frogtown (Angels Camp) this weekend to test their skills on the hills. 5 of the 7 teams finished in the top 5 for team scoring. This is the same course they will run at the Sub-Section Meet at the end of the season. Check the link in the comments for full results.
