Playing in his very first high school playoff game, Newbury Park freshman quarterback Brady Smigiel faced a 14-0 deficit in the first quarter.
Brady Smigiel completed 16 of 28 attempts for 276 yards, five touchdowns and one interception as the Panthers cinched a playoff berth. The freshman also rushed for 15 yards and caught a 5-yard scoring pass.
There were big plays, key mistakes, lost opportunities, clutch responses. All played under oh-so-rare rainy skies.
