The Chiefs ended league play today with a 6-1 victory over Whittier HS. Sean Romo led the scoring with 3 goals on the afternoon. The victory clinched second place for the Chiefs and will await the CIF draw this coming Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
Santa Fe continued their winning ways earning a 1-0 victory over La Serna. Sean Romo broke past the La Serna defensive line in the 11th minute with a composed finish to score the games only goal. The Chiefs then set out to withstand the Lancers pressure to preserve the clean sheet. The Chiefs host El Rancho on Monday which could decide the Del Rio League championship.
Santa Fe defeated league rival Cal Hi today by a score of 3-1. Cal Hi struck first, against the run of play, with a nice volleyed finish from a partial clearance. Sean Romo equalized with a strong move and pace to beat his marker and then slotted home with a tidy shot. The game was back and forth for most of the game until late in regular time Rafael Gonzalez headed home a corner kick at at that back post to break the deadlock. Shortly after, Romo iced the game with beautifully taken volley of his own.
Santa Fe got back to winning ways recording a victory vs.Whittier High School. Tony Tetteh opened the scoring with a leaping header. The Chiefs would double their lead when Dean Pulido was put through and slid the ball into the lower right corner of the goal. The Chiefs end the first round in second place with a 2 and 2 record just one game behind the leaders.
