VS Granite Hills

The Lady Devils fought hard against their crosstown rivals, but ultimately fell short of their goal. Taking a 1 point lead into halftime, the Sun Devils were confidant, but were not prepared for the onslaught from Granite Hill's stifling defense.

A Defensive Battle

Both teams came out dueling in the first quarter, ending with a 14-8 score. The following three quarters were a defensive battle. Although unable to take the lead, the girls fought hard and kept the game close throughout. The same team that they had lost to by 19 points just 3 days prior, they kept to almost half the number of points and were in a position to win come the fourth quarter. On the defensive end, AV had 19 steals, led by Leshey with 5 steals. Jordan (9 points) and Corrie (6 points) led the team in rebounds and points. Presley also finished 1 for 1 from beyond the arc and 4 steals.

2nd win of the UP Tournament

The girls came out strong, jumping out to an 18-9 lead at halftime. Corie Hall led the team with 10 point in the first half. Although, it was the defense that carried them home in the second half as CSDR attempted a comeback and narrowed the final score to 23-17. The team ended the game with a total of 19 steals. Jordan led the team with 7 rebounds and 2 blocks. Bre had 5 points and Isabella (3 points) was 1 for 1 from deep. The girls are now 2-0 in the tournament and are looking for a 3rd win tonight at 7pm against the host of the tournament (University Prep). We could use all the support tonight! With the win tonight, they will advance into the championship game tomorrow.
