Cascade Shuts out Rogue River on Senior Night

Cascade Christian is now on a three game winning streak with their win against Rogue River on Thursday evening. The evening started out with honoring the Lady Challengers seven seniors: Angelica Arce, Emma Coats, Ryann DeBoer, Taylor Folin, Katharina Gray, Jordynn Jones, and Josie Scaglione. All of these players other than one have played all four years for Cascade. Katharina was out all of her junior year for a knee injury. All seven of these girls will be missed as they graduate at the end of the school year and set out into the next part of their lives. The game started out strong with several shots on goal in just the first few minutes. The Challengers found the back of the net in the 33rd minute as Angelica Arce scored on a cross from Jordynn Jones. The first half remained a battle as Cascade continued to press and get several shots on goal that were stopped by the Rogue River goalkeeper. The first half ended with Cascade leading 1-0. The second half was a lot of the same offensive pressure from Cascade to secure a second game holding goal. The second goal came from Taylor Folin in the 45th minute with a powerful shot from near the top of the 18 to secure the lead. The Lady Challengers maintained the shut out for the remainder of the game with a 2-0 win. Cascade is sitting in a good spot in the 3A rankings to head to playoffs at the beginning of November. More information to come. Cascade will play cross-town rivals, St. Mary's Crusaders, on Tuesday October 15th on field 10 at Lithia & Driveway fields at 4:00pm.

Lady Challengers Win on the Road

Cascade is continuing to play an aggressive offensive game with a win on the road at North Valley on Tuesday night. The Challengers started out strong with great passing strings in the first few minutes of the game. The intentional passing paid off as Jordynn Jones found the back of the net in the 5th minute. The North Valley Knights answered back in the 7th minute with a goal that tied the game at 1-1. The Lady Challengers continued to play hard and off a corner kick from Mae Ferreira to Katharina Gray, Cascade drew out the Knights defense and Jordynn Jones was able to find the back of the net for a second time in the 19th minute to gain the lead to 2-1. The Challengers continued to fire shots at the North Valley goal, but without success. Shots in the first half came from Emma Coats, Mae Ferreira, and Angelica Arce. The second half of the game started off strong with two shots from Angelica Arce and Jordynn Jones. The Cascade defensive line continued to fight to hold the lead throughout the second half with strong defensive connection of Mae Ferreira, Amelia Vanlandingham, and Brynn Coppedge. All three played all 80 minutes of the game. The Lady Challengers clinched the lead in the 62nd minute with a shot from Emma Coats that bounced off the crossbar, but was followed up by Angelica Arce to find the back of the net to put the score at 3-1. Cascade held the lead through the rest of the second half to win the game at 3-1. The Challengers will play Rogue River at home on Thursday at 4:00pm and also celebrate the seven seniors for Senior Night.

Cascade Falls to Lakeview on the Road

Cascade played hard against Lakeview on Saturday, but could not draw the win. The possession of the ball for both teams was pretty equal for the first half. Cascade started off strong with several shots on goal from Emma Coats, Lindsey Hutcheson, and Angelica Arce. From a great passing sequence in the midfield, Taylor Folin found the back of the net in the 18th minute to put the Challengers up 1-0. The lead didn't last long for Cascade as Lakeview answered back in the 22nd minute to tie the game at 1. The Cascade defensive line, lead by Junior Mae Ferreira, kept Lakeview out of scoring position for the majority of the game. Defensive strength from Brynn Coppedge, Amelia Vanlandingham, and Vivian Fortier helped the Challengers maintain the tie throughout the first half and into the second half. Player highlight for this game is newcomer sophomore Emily Chavez. Emily played a defensive midfield position like a seasoned player to help with maintaining the Cascade defensive line. The Challengers continued to fire shots at the Lakeview goal keeper, but could not find the back of the net. Lakeview's next two goals came in the 70th and 71st minute after some confusion in the midfield on coverage. The Lady Challengers maintained possession of the ball for the majority of the last minutes of the game as they attempted to close the score gap. Shot attempts were from Jordynn Jones, Taylor Folin, Angelica Arce, Gertie Wine, Mae Ferreira, and Sienna Wilcox. This game rounded out the Challengers 3 game week and will only have one game against Lost River on Wednesday, October 2nd at home at 4:00pm.

Cascade Shuts Out Illinois Valley

The Lady Challengers came out of their second game of the week with a win against Illinois Valley on Thursday night at home. The Challengers continue to gain their momentum by playing the passing and communication game they have decided to play. Cascade dominated on offense by passing the ball through the back and mid field to push the ball forward during the first 10 minutes to find those goal scoring moments. The Lady Challengers connected as a team to earn their first goal in the 12th minute from Emma Coats with an assist from Jordynn Jones. After the reset, Cascade regained possession of the ball and Emma Coats found the back of the net again in the 14th minute with an assist from Katharina Gray. The offensive press continued from the Challengers with two more shots from Emma Coats in the 23rd minute, a shot from Taylor Folin in the 25th minute, a shot from Sienna Wilcox in the 32nd minute, and breakaway shots from Lindsey Hutcheson in the 35th and 37th minute. Emma Coats found the back of the net for a third time to complete the Hat Trick in the 36th minute. With the Challengers up 3-0 at the half and a first half clean sheet from Josie Scaglione, the Challengers switched up goal keepers to freshman Lindsey Hutcheson to hold down the back line. Taylor Folin, Emma Coats, and Mae Ferreira continued to fire shots at the Illinois Valley goal keeper. One of those shots found the back of the net for Emma Coats in the 60th minute to complete a "Haul." The Lady Challengers complete their three game week at Lakeview on Saturday at 1:00pm.
