Lakeview, OR — Cascade played hard against Lakeview on Saturday, but could not draw the win. The possession of the ball for both teams was pretty equal for the first half. Cascade started off strong with several shots on goal from Emma Coats, Lindsey Hutcheson, and Angelica Arce. From a great passing sequence in the midfield, Taylor Folin found the back of the net in the 18th minute to put the Challengers up 1-0. The lead didn't last long for Cascade as Lakeview answered back in the 22nd minute to tie the game at 1. The Cascade defensive line, lead by Junior Mae Ferreira, kept Lakeview out of scoring position for the majority of the game. Defensive strength from Brynn Coppedge, Amelia Vanlandingham, and Vivian Fortier helped the Challengers maintain the tie throughout the first half and into the second half. Player highlight for this game is newcomer sophomore Emily Chavez. Emily played a defensive midfield position like a seasoned player to help with maintaining the Cascade defensive line. The Challengers continued to fire shots at the Lakeview goal keeper, but could not find the back of the net. Lakeview's next two goals came in the 70th and 71st minute after some confusion in the midfield on coverage. The Lady Challengers maintained possession of the ball for the majority of the last minutes of the game as they attempted to close the score gap. Shot attempts were from Jordynn Jones, Taylor Folin, Angelica Arce, Gertie Wine, Mae Ferreira, and Sienna Wilcox. This game rounded out the Challengers 3 game week and will only have one game against Lost River on Wednesday, October 2nd at home at 4:00pm.
