UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball program welcomed Roosevelt to the Hamilton Gym for their home opener Saturday evening. The Cardinals (3-6, 1-1 GLIAC) swept the Lakers (1-9, 0-2 GLIAC) 3-0 winning sets 25-22, 25-22, 29-27.
SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball program started their Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play against Lake Superior State University Thursday evening. The Cardinals (2-6, 0-1 GLIAC) fell 3-0 to the Lakers (4-5, 1-0 GLIAC) with set scores of 27-25, 25-23, 25-12.
Game two featured another stand out pitching performance for the Cardinals and a one-run victory. Steven Hecht got the start and went 4.1 innings allowing two runs, one earned on four hits and four strikeouts. Hecht got run support early with Schweiger scoring on a wild pitch in the second and Brandon Scheurer doubling home Jeff Reseigh in the third to make it 2-0.
The Saginaw Valley State University baseball program wrapped up their three-game series with Cedarville University Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader in freezing temperatures. The Cardinals (5-2) took home both games with final scores of 4-3 and 3-2.
