The JSerra Girls Soccer team is on the doorstep of competing for a CIF-SS championship, as the Lions advanced past Pacifica on PK’s 4-1 after the two teams tied 1-1 in the quarterfinals of the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs Wednesday at JSerra High. JSerra (12-3-6) will host Palos Verdes in the semifinals round on Saturday. The time for kickoff has yet to be determined. The two teams were locked in a scoreless tie throughout much of regulation, but the Mariners scratched across a goal with seven minutes left in regulation to take a 1-0 lead. The Lions found the equalizer two minutes later with a goal by senior midfielder Chelsea Loeser and the match went into overtime. After neither team could score in two overtime periods, freshman goalie Kai Beary produced two big saves in the PK session to seal the Lions' trip to the semis.
