The JSerra Girls Soccer team engaged in a stirring back-and-forth Trinity League battle with the Orange Lutheran Lancers on Thursday evening, with the visiting Lions emerging with a highly entertaining 4-3 victory. JSerra has now won three straight league games and pushed its record to 9-3-4 overall and 3-2-1 in league. The Lancers led 1-0 at intermission after scoring a 38th minute goal, but the Lions’ attack roared to life in impressive fashion after the intermission. Freshman Bria Johnson found the back of the net in the 42nd minute to tie the contest 1-1. Orange Lutheran answered a minute later to take a 2-1 lead, but in the 46th minute, Lions senior Sydney Vanderbeek supplied the equalizer on a header. JSerra claimed its’ first lead of the match in the 58th minute. Junior Sydney Schuler struck a left-footed free kick from over 25 yards out that curled perfectly over the goalie and tucked into the corner of the goal. The Lancers answered right back on a set piece header one minute later to tie the score at 3-3. But Lions sophomore Peyton Marinos supplied the game-deciding goal in the 68th minute, as she blasted a deep line drive free kick into the back of the net.
