The JSerra Girls Soccer team kicked off their CIF-SS Division 1 playoff journey with a strong 2-0 road triumph over the Citrus Valley Golden Hawks on Thursday evening at Citrus Valley High.
Sophomore Peyton Marinos put the Lions ahead in the fourth minute of the game, as she charged down the right side of the field and blasted a hard liner into the back of the net.
Junior Sydney Schuler added an insurance goal in the 51st minute, as she curled a well-placed, left footed shot into the goal.
Freshman goalie Kai Beary continued her strong recent play with six saves, helping to spearhead a Lions defense that has not allowed a goal in three straight games.
With the victory, the Lions improve to 10-3-6 on the season and will host Edison on Saturday in the second round.
