Chargers show appreciation, then get the victory

On a night where teachers, seniors, and parents were honored, the Charter Oak Boys basketball team knew they needed a victory to improve their playoff seeding going into post season play. The 70-53 win on Thursday night was a big improvement from the last time CO met West Covina High. The last contest ended in a buzzer beater as the Chargers survived a close call. Charter Oak improves to 18-7, 7-3 and have secured a share of second place in the Hacienda League.

Chargers battle to beat Walnut

The Charter Oak boys basketball team came from behind to beat Walnut High on Friday night 48-44. In what both teams knew would be a defensive contest, the Chargers got some critical stops in the closing minutes. Defensive stops paired with a difficult layup by Chase Evans and a clutch three pointer by Michael Anyanwu was enough to seal the victory. Jermaine Braddock led all scorers with 17 points and Michael Anyanwu and Chase Evans added 10 points a piece. The Chargers (16-7, 5-3) close league out with Chino and West Covina next week.

Chargers fall to Los Altos

The Chargers lost their first home game of the season on Wednesday night to Los Altos High School by a score of 72-52. In a game of runs, the Chargers couldn’t quite close the gap on several occasions. The Chargers drop to 15-7 overall and 4-3 in Hacienda League play. The Chargers were led in scoring by Jermaine Braddock with 21 points and Noah Que with 13 points. Chase Evans added nine. CO goes back on the road to face Walnut High on Friday night.

Chargers Defeat Panthers

The Charter Oak Chargers boys varsity basketball team stayed unbeaten on their home court with a win on Friday night. The Chargers beat visiting Diamond Ranch high school by a score of 57-52. Charter Oak moves into a tie for second place with the Panthers. Both teams sit at 4-2 in league play. CO improves to 15-6 overall.
