Freshman boys get their 4th win of the season against Zeeland East! The Sailors were in control from the tip and took a 9 point lead into the half. Jaeger Johnson led the Sailors in scoring with 10 points, Hunter Krueger and Tyrese Hill followed with 7 points each.
Freshman boys lost a hard fought game at Zeeland West 43-36. Down by 6 at the end of the 1st Quarter, the Sailors fought back to take a 2 point advantage into the half. The game was tied at 32 with under 3 minutes to go and Zeeland took the lead to end the game. Hunter Krueger led all scorers with 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Tyrese chipped in 7 points and had 4 rebounds and 2 steals.
Freshman boys win their second game of 2022 beating Grand Rapids Union 52-28. After a lopsided first quarter (15-0), the Sailors maintained a comfortable lead throughout all 4 quarters as Union tried to fight back. Jaeger Johnson led the way on the offensive end scoring 13 points which included 3 3pt baskets. Ezra Carefelle was another standout offensively scoring 9 points and added a handful of assists. This was a great team defensive game as the boys had over 10 steals and forced 6 more turnovers.
The freshman team earned their first win of the New Year beating Lowell 53-15. The Sailors we’re in control from the tip-off as they led by 12 at the end of the first period. Landyn Smith and Hunter Krueger topped all scorers with 10 points each. Landyn and Hunter also played big in the paint collecting 9 and 7 rebounds. The team had a great defensive performance as well having 12 steals, 4 blocks and causing 6 more turnovers.
