Buena Frosh Finish the Season with a Win!

The Buena frosh played the San Marcos frosh on Thursday and won the game by a score of 16 to 8 to go 5 and 5 on the season. We played well on defense with many players contributing to the win and on offense we scored just enough points to win the game. Leading the way on defense was Joshua Ullegue who had a pass deflection and an interception for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to ice the game. Arron Cesario had an interception as did Tyler Pham that ended the game in the fourth quarter. Joshua Jimenez, Jackson Carter, Grant Barajas, Jordan Abdulhay and Jacob Rodriguez, who had a fumble recovery in the 3rd quarter, all played well. Offensively we did just enough to win the game. Playing well were Tyler Hoff who made an amazing catch at the five yard line to set up our first touchdown by Aaron Cesario two plays later. Later in the third quarter Joy Lazaro kicked a 25 yard field goal to give us the lead for good 10 to 8. Michael Gibson was perfect on the day on all the punts ,field goal and point after touchdown long snaps and Roman Chavarria's punting kept San Marcos pinned back in their end of the field. The Buena frosh finished the season strong with three wins in four games to end our season a tribute to our players and my coaching staff.

Buena Frosh fall to Simi Valley

The Buena frosh played the Simi Valley frosh on Thursday and lost by a score of 34 to 0 to go 4 - 5 on the season. A shorthanded squad travelled to Simi Valley ready to compete! In spite of the hardships of the week our players dealt with the situation with determination and gave it their all for all four quarters. Tyler Hoff became our quarterback on the day of the game and played well for the situation that he was placed in. Whether on offense or defense the following players stepped up their contributions this week: Ian Fish, Jordan Abdulhay, John Ahern, Wyatt Elliott, Nathan Arevalo, Joy Lazaro, Aaron Almanza, Nick Lopez, Angel Rocha Sanchez, and Jacob Valadez. Also I am proud of the character that our team showed during this week and throughout the game under conditions that were far from ideal to win the game. Thursday will be our final game of 2021 season against San Marcos at Buena Stadium at 4:00 pm.

Buena Frosh defeat San Marcos 14 - 6

The Buena frosh played the San Marcos frosh on Thursday and won the game by a score of 14 to 6 to go 4 - 4 on the season. Defensively Joshua Jimenez had a key interception in the first half that led to our first touchdown and a 7 - 0 lead in the game. The defense also had a key goal line stand in the first half. The stand was led by two loss of yardage plays by Jackson Carter and one by Jonathon Cortez which ended the San Marcos drive. Also playing well on defense during the game were Aaron Cesario, Tyler Pham, Jacob Rodriguez, Tauha Siddiqi and Grant Barajas. The punting of Roman Chavarria controlled the field position which contributed to the win. Big plays on defense late in the game by Jackson Carter and Grant Barajas sealed the win. Tyler Hoff again led the way on offense with two touchdowns: the first a tough 4 yard run and the second a 38 yard touchdown pass from Elijah Paris. Joy Lazaro kicked both PATs in the game. Ventura will not field a frosh team this year and for the first time in over 37 years there will not be a BUENA VS VENTURA FROSH GAME.... what a shame! Therefore the Buena frosh will play Simi Valley frosh on Thursday at Simi at 4:00 pm.

Defensively, after giving up a first quarter touchdown to Camarillo, we shut them out for the next three quarters. Leading the way on defense were Aaron Cesario, Roman Chavarria and Adrian Hinojosa who all had interceptions in the game. Linebackers Hudson Machado and Tauha Siddiqi also played well.
