Colton High School advances winning 5-3 on penalties.
Emilio Garcia scored a Golden Goal 5 minutes into the overtime period to give the Chiefs a 1-0 win in the first round of the CIF playoffs. After a rocky first half, Santa Fe turned it around and controlled the game from the second half going forward, narrowly missing several opportunities.
Emilio Garcia came on to score two goals and assist on another as the Chiefs beat Whittier High School 5-0. The victory finds the Chiefs undefeated in this Del Rio League season having allowed only one goal in 8 games. Kyle Mallory added two goal and Joshua Contreras scored the Chief's 5th. Alexei Cortez, Danny Ruvalcaba, Itzam Lizarraga, and Josh Contreras also had assists in the game.
Miguel Vargas scored early in the second half after he was found by Joseph Mena down the right hand flank to give the Chiefs a 1-0 lead. El Rancho took advantage of a misplayed free kick to equalize at 1-1 and that is the score in which the game ended. The result gives Santa Fe the Del Rio League title for the 2018-2019 season.
