Coaching debut for Brendan Garrett
Camarillo Boy’s Varsity opened the 2019-20 season with a 68-53 victory over a gritty and experienced St. Genevieve team. The Scorpions opened strong with 3’s from sophomore point guard Jordan Torres and senior forward Branson Brooks. A strong defensive effort from juniors Chad Hiji-Madrid and Justin Xu allowed them to extend the lead over the St.Genevieve squad that was returning four Varsity starters. Torres finished with a team high 18 points and 6 assists. Brooks ended with 13 points and five rebounds. Hiji-Madrid contributed 3 blocks and 7 deflections, while Xu finished with 7 rebounds. Returning Varsity players Patrick Bowman and Anthony Frausto had solid games, Frausto had 10 points while Bowman accounted for 13 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks and 3 steals. Nice team effort in Coach Garrett’s ACHS debut.
