Fountain Valley, CA — JSerra continues their league win streak to five, finishing the first round of Trinity play with a solid win over the Monarchs of Mater Dei 12 - 6. A miraculous first round in today's match saw the Lions sweep 5 of 6 sets. Taylor and Kaley quickly dispatched their respective opponents at lines 1 and 3. Jenna was up 5 - 2 before and injury time out slowed the flow, but, she overcame that and other obstacles to prevail 7-5. Claire and Katy G. had a great upset win over MD's #1 line doubles in an awesome tiebreaker! Both of these matches finished at the same time, could have gone either way, and were the keys to the victory today. The 2nd round was split 3-3 , TAylor, Jenna and Claire/Katy adding to the tally. Leading 8 - 4 going in to round three is not a given, but, Taylor was matched vs MD's #3 player, so, that looked promising. At the beginning of round 3, total game count was in favor of the Lions 54 - 42 [just in case their was a 9-9 tie in the future]. Claire/Katy destroyed the line 2 dbls team, Jena trounced the line 1, 6-0 and Gabbi Basa with Sophia Moncur took the 4th round 3 point with a solid 6-2 effort! Definitely a great team effort. We still have ALOT of work to do, and a day to get ready for Santa Margarita! Go Lions!
