San Juan Capistrano, CA — The Lions opened up the 2022 season with a win over El Toro. KOach Kirk notes: "This is an annual preseason match for us, 14 yrs in the running. Coach Amos was kind enough to play us during our inception and initial growth and it is good to play someone close to us in proximity." New freshman phenom, Brady Schaefgen dominated winning his 3 sets, dropping only 2 games at line 1. Jr, Zach Champine also posted a clean sweep in singles. Sweeping all 3 doubles sets were Kenney Perez with Charlie Vogel, both new to the varsity level! Freshman Hudson Aase teamed up with Esteban Johnson for round 1, then with Aiden German also sweeping 3 sets. Good opening!... our toughest 3 matches of the season are ALL on the same day, Thurs, 1:30 start, next week vs Woodbridge [host site], University and Los Oso. I need a parent to donate hard hats for this outing! GO Lions!
