The JSerra Baseball team was staring squarely at another frustrating home defeat on Saturday before they flipped the script and engineered an improbable 4-3 come-from-behind victory over Granada Hills Charter at JSerra Catholic High School. The win snapped a two-game home losing streak for the Lions, who are now 13-8-1 on the season. The Highlanders led 3-0 in the top of the fourth inning, but an RBI single by sophomore Marcus Greis in the bottom of the fourth and a fielder’s choice groundout by Greis in the bottom of the sixth narrowed the deficit to one run. Greis had two of JSerra’s four hits in the game. Down to their final out in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Lions’ fate changed in the blink of an eye. Senior Charlie Caruso walked, and junior Jordan Marian was hit by a pitch. Caruso and junior Noah Meza, who pitch ran for Marian, were both successful on a double steal attempt putting the go-ahead runner in scoring position. Junior Tyler Dunning (down to his final strike) then put down a bunt which was fielded by the Highlanders’ third baseman, but his throw to first was off target, allowing Caruso and Meza to score for the walk-off victory.
