It was a successful start to the 2024 Tesoro Championships for the JSerra Girls Volleyball team on Friday, as the Lions claimed their first two victories of the season at Aliso Niguel High.
JSerra opened pool play with a 25-14, 25-17 win over Alemany High.
Sophomore Katherine Nowak had a team-high 10 kills and three aces, while junior Catherine Beadles posted a team-best 12 assists.
In their second match of the evening, the Lions swept past Hart High 25-17, 25-16.
Junior Charlotte Nowak put down a team-leading eight kills, while sophomore Makayla Ziegler recorded six kills.
Beadles and freshman Kendall Stark combined for 15 assists.
Charlotte Nowak, Stark, and senior Mikaela Brennan combined for seven of the team’s eight aces in the match.
The Lions are scheduled to resume pool play on Saturday, when they square off against San Clemente High.
