The JSerra Girls Basketball team captured their second tournament championship of the season, as the Lions defeated the Carson Colts 67-36 in the Championship Game of the Lady Pirate Holiday Classic Saturday night at San Pedro High. With the win, the Lions have won seven straight games and are now 14-1 on the season. Freshman Rosie Santos, who enjoyed another stellar all-around performance in Saturday’s title game (nine points, 10 assists, seven rebounds, three steals, and three blocks), was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. Freshman Shae Talleur, who led JSerra in scoring in the tournament, was named to the all-tournament team. In Saturday’s championship game, Talleur dropped a team-high 16 points, including 4-of-8 from behind the three-point line. For the tournament, Talleur connected on 16-of-25 (64 percent) from behind the arc. Freshmen Addie Nolan (12 points and seven rebounds) and Eden Hoff (11 points) were also named to the all-tournament team.
