The JSerra Girls Water Polo team closed out its three-day run at the Southern California Championships on Saturday at Corona del Mar with three wins in five games overall. JSerra heads into the final week of the regular season with a 14-7 overall record. The Lions’ nine-game winning streak was snapped in their opening game of the day, as they fell to Trinity League champion Orange Lutheran 17-5. Senior Sydney Chapman, sophomores Kamryn McCord and Sloane Paulson, and juniors Karissa Hughes and Cam Bibeau scored goals in the game. JSerra knocked off Schurr 7-4 in their second game of the day, as the Lions defense held the Knights scoreless in both the first and fourth periods. Chapman and fellow senior Zoe Gabriel each tallied three goals to help lead the way for JSerra, while Paulson added a goal. In their final game, the Lions were defeated by Long Beach Wilson 19-7. Lions sophomore goalie Sayre Duran was named to the all-tournament team.
