The @JSerra_Hoops Boys Basketball team closed out Pool B play in the CIF-SS Open Division playoffs with a 70-58 road deficit to St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy Friday night at Warren High in Downey. JSerra, which dropped two of three in Pool Play, is now 25-6 on the season. The Lions led by one after the first quarter, but an 11-0 Warriors run in the second quarter propelled them to grab a six-point lead at halftime. Despite 11 points from senior Sebastian Rancik in the third quarter, JSerra entered the fourth quarter down by 10 and was unable to mount a comeback in the final period. Rancik finished the game with a team-high 22 points on 6-of-10 from the field and 8-of-8 from the free throw. Senior Aidan Fowler scored 15 points and added five assists. The Lions will now await their fate for the CIF State Basketball Championships when the brackets are released on Sunday, February 25th.
