The postseason road for the JSerra Girls Lacrosse team began in winning form on the road on Thursday, as the Lions defeated the Culver City Centuars 16-7 in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 2 playoffs at Culver City High.
JSerra (13-8) will face Corona del Mar in a second round game on Saturday.
The time and location will be determined on Friday.
The victory marked the first time that JSerra has advanced past the first round of the postseason since the 2010 season.
Sophomore Addison Berg and junior Evelyn Devir combined for five goals in the first half to help spark the Lions to a 7-3 halftime lead.
Sophomore Kate Berkus was the offensive catalyst in the second half, as she scored three times to help JSerra close out the triumph.
Berg finished with a team-high five goals, with Devir and Berkus each adding four goals.
Senior Olivia Leddy scored twice, while fellow senior Caitlin Quinn also scored a goal.
Senior goalie Meagan Jennings added four saves.
