The JSerra Softball team put forth a resilient nonleague performance on Tuesday, as the Lions rallied to defeat the Tesoro Titans, 8-5, in 11 innings at Tesoro High.
The Lions have won four straight and six of their last eight games to improve to 8-8 on the season.
JSerra trailed 2-0 early, but a solo home run by sophomore Zena Edwards in the third inning and a sacrifice fly by junior Brooklyn Lamb in the fourth tied the game.
Each team scored a run in the eighth inning and two runs in the 10th inning, before the Lions scored three runs in the 11th inning to pull out the win.
Junior Alyssa Grajeda contributed a 3-for-5 effort at the plate with two doubles and two runs scored.
Junior Brooke Stephens went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.
Senior Kaylee Layfield was 1-for-4 with a key two-run single in the top of the 10th inning.
Senior Eva Hurtado allowed two earned runs and struck out three in her four innings in the circle, with freshman Abby Ford pitching seven innings in relief to get the win, allowing one earned run and striking out 12.
