The JSerra Wrestling team enjoyed some highly noteworthy individual success at the Laguna Hills Tournament Saturday at Laguna Hills High. Senior Kilian Hannegan continued his stellar campaign by taking first place at 152lbs. Hannegan won five matches (three by fall), including in the championship match, where he defeated Laguna Hills senior Zach Chacon. “Kilian wrestled phenomenally,” Lions head coach Mike Castellini said. “He's getting better each event and it's great to see him peak when it really matters.” Lions sophomore Finnigan Hannegan, who was a late entry into the invitational, advanced to the semifinals at 144lbs, but suffered a severe arm injury from an illegal slam and could not finish. He earned a silver medal for second place, but Castellini confirmed that Hannegan’s season is over. Senior Nile Jefferson became the third member of the team to medal, as he finished fifth overall at 192lbs.
