The JSerra Girls Water Polo team got off to a victorious start at the Southern California Championships on Thursday, as the Lions defeated Millikan High 16-8 at Foothill High.
JSerra has now won eight straight games and improves to 12-5 on the season.
The Lions led 5-4 after the first period, but broke away from the Rams with a 7-1 scoring spurt in the second period.
Sophomore Sloane Paulson scored a team-high four goals.
Senior Zoe Gabriel and sophomore Kamryn McCord each added three goals for the Lions.
