The JSerra Softball team officially closed out the SoCal’s Finest Tournament in victorious fashion on Monday afternoon, as the Lions defeated Roosevelt, 5-3, at Roosevelt High.
JSerra is now 7-8 on the season.
The game was originally scheduled for Monday, February 26th, but rain forced a two-week postponement.
Senior Kaylee Layfield went 2-for-3, including a solo homerun in the top of the third inning, and scored three runs.
Junior Alyssa Grajeda was 1-for-3, driving in two runs with a single in the fourth inning, while also scoring a run.
Freshman Brooklyn Lamb also went 1-for-3 with an RBI double.
Freshman Abby Ford struck out five in 3.1 innings of work in the circle, while senior Eva Hurtado pitched 2.2 innings in relief, allowing one hit while striking out three.
