The JSerra Boys Water Polo team remains the Trinity League’s “standard of excellence”, as the Lions clinched their third consecutive league crown with a 16-11 victory over the St. John Bosco Braves on Tuesday at St. John Bosco High.
The Lions, who have won 15 consecutive league games dating back to the 2021-2022 season, are now 22-3 overall on the season.
Senior Brian Barnuevo scored both of his goals in the first period to help the Lions to a 4-2 lead at the end of the first period.
Junior Connor Colman was the offensive spark in the second period, scoring twice to push the Lions advantage to 7-3 at the intermission.
After junior Tyler Anderson opened the third with his second goal of the game, Colman found the back of the net twice more in the period to stake JSerra to a 10-5 lead.
Colman capped his big six-goal scoring night with two more strikes in the final period to help the Lions seal the victory and the league title.
Senior Taylor Bell joined Barnuevo and Anderson by scoring twice.
Senior Colt Bradley, senior Noah Ryznar, freshman Dylan Park, and senior Ian Cardenas each added a goal for the Lions.
Junior goalie Jonas Ransford produced 10 saves in the game.
