In a clash of two Southern California powerhouses, the visiting Orange Lutheran Lancers defeated the JSerra Baseball team, 4-1, in the first game of their three-game, Trinity League opening series Tuesday afternoon at JSerra Catholic High School. The Lions are now 4-4-1 on the season. Orange Lutheran opened the scoring with two runs in the top of the 4th inning. JSerra plated its' lone run of the game in the fifth inning on a suicide squeeze bunt by junior Cole Strane, cutting the deficit to 2-1. Orange Lutheran added single runs in the sixth and seventh inning to close out the scoring. Lions senior Matthew Champion pitched well in the defeat, allowing only one earned run and two hits in five innings.
