The trucks never got started for the Churchland Truckers as The Comets dominated the entire game!
Norfolk, VA — On a cold, windy night at Powhatan field the Comets came into the game riding a 6 game winning streak looking to avenge a 1 point lost to the Truckers last season. They did not disappoint. From the opening kick off, the tone was set with a bone crushing tackle from starting LB Corvin Watson. From then on the Comet defense was a problem all night long for a Churchland offense that struggled to get any consistency going. The Comet defense, lead by its defensive line, would only give up 80 yards rushing to the area’s 4th ranked rusher. The QB was rattled all night long, with sacks and pressures coming from several Comets. Trievon Hooker, Joshua Thomas, Corvin Watson, Jeava Trotter, Jahlil Lee, Travis Wiggins, Kamari Cuffe, Drevyon Tharrington, Shaineek Wright and Marques Jenkins lead the assault on that Trucker offense. The front seven playing lights out gave the secondary huge support in the passing game. Eamon Cuffee intercepted a key pass on a 3rd down late in the game to seal the deal for the Comets. Offensively the game plan was to pound the ball with RB’s Drevyon Tharrington and Damari Palmer who both finished with rushing Touchdowns. Huge props to the Comets offensive line Justin Migette, Matthew Sipe, Raymon Anderson, Chaz Morris, Armaud West, and Jaivon Thomas for opening running lanes all night long. J’Shaun Reddin, who’s been red hot lately did finish with a 60 touchdown pass to RB Damari Palmer. The Comets who are now 7-0 will face off with Norcom next Friday at home. The Greyhounds will be looking to come in to avenge a 1 point lost handed to them by the Comets last season at the schools historic homecoming. Come out and support the Comets as they look to go 8-0 for the first time in over a decade. Let’s pack the house!
