Massillon, OH — On Tuesday, the Jackson Polar Bears faced off against the Hoover Vikings on the road. It was tied 2-2 until the bottom of the fourth when Hoover scored seven runs to take the lead 9-2. The Polar Bears chipped away scoring in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings before losing 9-7. The Jackson offense was out hit by the Vikings ten (10) to seven (7). The Polar Bears were unable to capitalize on a few opportunities that may have made a difference in the outcome of the game. The team battled until the final out and would look for a different outcome against the Vikings on Wednesday. On Wednesday, the Jackson Polar Bears were seeking revenge from Tuesday’s loss to the Hoover Vikings. The Polar Bears held the Vikings scoreless in the top of the first and then exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the inning. Jackson’s offense recorded six hits and four walks in the inning sending 13 Polar Bears to the plate. Hoover would not go away without a fight scoring five runs over the next three innings to cut the lead to 7-5. Jackson’s offense would catch fire in the bottom of the 4th scoring five more runs on three hits and three walks. The Bears capitalized on their opportunities to extend the lead to 12-5. Jackson would end the game in six innings as they scored four more runs over the next two innings and only surrendered one additional run to come away with the victory 16-6. It was a great team win after a tough loss on Tuesday. The Polar Bears are back in action on Friday as they travel to play Canfield and will be back home on Saturday to face Solon. Go Bears!!
