San Juan Capistrano, CA — Without their top player, the JV girl Lions stepped up and beat Orange Lutheran to complete a 7 win - 1 loss league record tying Mater Dei for 1st place. MVP honors to those winning 100% of matches played today, two singles players: Ava Serentelos (who did not play in the first match vs OLu) and Sophia Gonzalez, who avenged a first match loss to OLu’s top player with a 6-0 win today! Well done ladies. Doubles teams of Hayden Gibson with Lauren Smith, and Natalie Walters with Anna Solovjev each won 2 of 3 sets played. Ava Zell and Katherine Dygean picked up an additional set in doubles, totaling 5 set victories. Excluding 3 free sets from defaults by OLu, on court action, we won an 5 sets of singles for a balanced effort. Our MVP’rs won 4, with Julia Harkins picking up the 5th set in the final match.
