Newport Beach, CA — JSerra's Frosh girls traveled to Newport Beach to play Corona del Mar HS and came away with a rare victory vs this heralded program. "They are one of the only programs that have larger numbers than we [normally] have", says KOach Kirk. "They have 3 frosh teams and we were fortunate that their coach subbed generously today." CdM fielded a strong doubles crew in round 1 and the Lions were only able to pick up 2 singles matches, Rosalia at line #1 and Julia at line #3 Sofia Gonzales got on board, winning her last 2 singles matches while Julia added an additional singles point, equalling 7 for the singles trio. The doubles teams got warmed up and took 5 of the remaining 6 doubles sets in rounds 2 and 3! Ericka with Nicole and Sophia Recupero with Fionnuala took doubles victories while Maria with Kaitlyn added 1 set to the tally. "I saw some strong singles efforts from all 3 ladies, Rosalia was amazing today! Sophia rallied after a 6-0 round 1 loss, with Julia coming out of the gates fast and barely dropping the 3rd round set, 4-6.
