Lake Elsinore, CA — Click the link below for Video Highlights from the game http://www.hudl.com/v/2FMiM7 The Elsinore Frosh football team travelled to Temescal Canyon High School on Wednesday, April 14 for their first taste of one of the most competitive, hard fought, and respectful rivalries in Southern California. Predictably, this cross town rivalry game would come down to the last play. Clinging to a 12-6 lead with their backs against the wall (along with the entire TC varsity program behind them), the Tiger defense would “hold the rope”, with Gavin Smith and Julian Santoyo forcing the ball out of the hands of the Titan ballcarrier and into the arms of “JWM” aka Justin White-McCarter. After eight months, the Tigers would finally be rewarded with a defining moment of victory to cap off another memorable chapter of Elsinore Football’s 90 + year history. The post-game emotional responses of players such as Santoyo (Leading Tackler), Andrew Irvin (Highlight reel TD catch and Interception), squad leader/ 2 way lineman Jesse Livingston, Siupeli Tava (fumble recovery) and Caden Maxfield (93 yards rushing and receiving) showed just how much this victory meant to this team. At Elsinore, we emphasize program development at the lower levels over running “gimmick” schemes to “microwave” frosh victories. But it was clear that this win against our rivals to put an exclamation point on such a long yet short football season full of adversity meant the world to everyone on the Elsinore side. Thanks so much to all of the coaches, parents and players for being committed, flexible, patient, and staying together with us until the end. A special thanks to Jessica and Rob for helping with gameday support on this day. We look forward to seeing these Tigers pursue excellence and integrity in their lives and in Westphal stadium for years to come.
