Costa Mesa, CA — I guess we could insert different names from the girls match here and call it a day! But, too many good efforts to not be recognized! First of all, screen wont let me put in 11 MVP's so, everyone is! Some guys [obviously] swept, the team that dropped a close tiebreaker, came back and beat Costa Mesa's #1 doubles team in the very next match [Michael Woodard with Anthony Ashworth] AND Rodney Culwell with Brian Chi won their first ever varsity match, in their first ever attempt! Brock, Zach and Nick swept all 9 singles sets, Nick's win over CMesa's line #1 player was most impressive. Michael and Anthony coming off a tight tiebreaker loss in round 1, upset CMesa's #1 doubles team was impressive! Sean with Gary and Aiden with Peter swept their respective doubles sets without any problems. Coach Orahood is also very impressed with Costa Mesa's sportsmanship, their new coach, Jason, is starting off setting the culture for an awesome program. Their student-athletes on both teams are very polite and respectful. We look forward to maintaining a yearly match in the future! On to La Quinta, [Westminster/Ftn Valley] Thursday! Go Lions!
