Rancho Santa Margarita, CA — Our young JV team lost to Santa Margarita this afternoon 13-5. Disappointed in the score, but not the girls. Our starting JV team is made up of 7 freshmen and we are PROUD of the way they are playing and representing our school. MVP honors to Sophia Moncur, Elise Early and Kylie Davidson who won our 5 sets today, all in singles. We have to find a way to win some doubles sets! Next up: A & B squads vs El Toro this Thursday at El Toro, 3pm.

Sophie Moncur

Sophie played very well this afternoon, winning 2 of 3 sets played. Her opening round win vs SM’s #2, was the longest lasting set of the match - in 95• weather - both girls battled well. Sophie played their #1 girl in the final round, who was too tough to beat...but got several games off her.

Elise Early

Elise, starting at our #1 position, dropped her opening round set, but bounced back to easily win her next 2 sets in decisive fashion.

Kylie Davidson

Kylie fought back from a deficit in the opening round for a 7-5 victory. Opening round wins are important because they set the stage for the remainder of the overall match and because players are paired vs their same ranked opponent: 1 vs 1; 2 vs 2; etc. We can’t win the big, important matches if our #3’s don’t beat their #3’s ...and Kylie found a way to do that this afternoon. Well done.
