Fullerton, CA — After coming off a thrilling win against Arizona Christian University, Men's Basketball hosted Ottawa University Saturday night. The Royals defeated the Spirit 90-69, as four Royals scored in double digits. The Royals outscored the Spirit in the first half 41-27. The teams held a close game at the beginning of the first half until the Royals settled in on offense. The Royals went on a 9-2 scoring run to go up by thirteen points with just under six minutes left of play in the half. Anthony Garcia (JR/Fontana, CA) ended the half with a three-pointer followed by a jump shot, which gave the Royals a 14 point lead going into the half. The Royals continued to be consistent on offense as they scored 49 points in the second half. HIU allowed the Spirit to score 42 points in the second half but it was not enough to overcome the Royals' early lead. The Royals went on a 12-0 scoring run at the end of the half to solidify their win. The Royals were hot on offense as they shot 55% from field goal and from three-point range. Anthony Garcia led the Royals with 21 points and 8 rebounds. Kane Daniels (SR/Blythe, CA) scored 19 points, Michael Fry (SR/Inglewood, CA) had 15 points, and Keith Hunter (SR/Oakland, CA) had 10 points. The Royals will play at Vanguard next Thursday to wrap up their road play in the regular season.
