San Juan Capistrano, CA — Our Frosh / Soph boys faired a little better against Portola's JV "B" team, than our JV team vs. their JV "A" team, but still came out on the "short end" of the stick. Half of the guys got to play 3 full sets today, with the remainder playing 2 full sets - so a lot of tennis was played by all. Kudos to MVP Preston Frickes-Drisdal, who played very well today winning 2 of 3 sets played. Our 3rd set victory came from "MVP's" Brian Chi and Nicholas Keenan, who won 6-4 in the final set of the day. A very "well done" to Zechuan Rao, whose first set lasted very long vs. their excellent #1 player in the opening round. "Rao" had this guy on the ropes; so even in defeat 4-6, he is a "winner" for us today. Dash Li played 3 sets of singles today for the first time, a good effort from him, "thank you". Because of the superior abilities of some of our opponents, I'd like to do "honorable mentions" for the entire squad today....we played for over 2 hours, which doesn't always happen when playing the tough Irvine teams. So kudos to all these guys who are playing hard and improving every week: Aidan Ashwal, Jason Zeng, Jonathan Goodwin, Hunter Peasley, Ville Wu and Roland Serna.
