Irvine, CA — Our JV team was clearly outmatched today, despite some good efforts. Good thing was everybody got great experience, getting to play 2 and/or 3 full sets each. Freshman Esteban Johnson played a long drawn out match against their #1 player in an opening round loss. He came back in round 3 to defeat Portola’s #3 player (6-4) in a back and forth set that was easily the best set of the match. Jason (their guy) had an amazing, blazing serve, however, Esteban finally broke him at 4-4 and then held serve for the win. Congrats to Esteban: MVP for the day!
