Laguna Hills, CA — Laguna Hills was kind enough to host JSerra in this late season non-league contest. The Hawks lost five good seniors from last year's team and definitely are in a rebuilding phase. KOach left most of the starters at home to get ready for the Lions rematch at Mater Dei tomorrow, borrowed Keith's top 3 singles players and one of his top double's players. Dylan, Kinsley and Sam swept all 9 of the singles sets, the Hawks #2 player gave Kinsley and Sam a tough fight with 4-6 and 5-7 losses to the LIons. Sam was down 1-4 in round 3, but, fought back for the 7-5 victory. This young lady was a lefty and tricky to play against. Dylan swept in easy fashion, as usual, giving up 1 game in 3 sets. Her match vs line 1 in round 1 had some great long rallies though. The Lions duos also swept 9, but had a little scare in round 3 as the 'cousins' Neeka with Bryanna gave the Hawks a 3-0 lead before closing out with a 6-4 victory! They replaced our sister act, Cecilia and Christina Nama who swept rounds 1 and 2 easily. Milana and Kylie didn't bat an eye giving up only 1 game in 3 sets. They played very solid doubles with flawless placement of returns, groundies and poaches. Stealing the show today were Chiara and Elliana who have won 7 of their last 7 varsity sets in a row! These two young ladies are a great testament of players who come to practice and games and wait patiently for their chance to play! I am VERY proud of the way we competed today, a very classy win. I know alot of programs that would have turned a win like this into a very ugly event. We must learn to win with class and unfortunately also lose with class. Today was an example of the culture our coaches and players are striving to acheive. A big thankyou to you girls today for helping to place our varsity program into a position for a CIF at large bid. GO LIONS!!!
