Recap
Vista, CA — Vista, a local track team, played as well as possible against a superior opponent but lost 31-8 Saturday afternoon.
The Longhorns stepped up a couple of weight classes to take on a very formidable SD Aztec Black team. The Aztecs sporting a 13-year-old that stood 6'2" and tipped the scales at a modest 275 lbs. outclassed the youthful Vista team.
The Longhorns just could not find any offensive rhythm and had five drives end in punts to the talented foe. The Vista Coach said that "....you have to give credit to the Aztecs for Vista's offensive woes".
Defensively, the Longhorns made several big plays and was able to stay in the game, but San Diego showed exactly why they are considered a dominate team.
The Aztecs, being a D-1, national track team, took full of advantage of the stalled Longhorns offense to mount a 25-0 3rd quarter lead.
The Longhorns prevented the shut-out by scoring in the waning minutes of the game to show so fight and pride.
This version of the Longhorns may be young and inexperienced, but they will battle till the very end. Something the makes their Coach staff extremely happy.
The Horns look to regroup next week when the Chula Vista Eagles visit the Longhorn cavern.
Until Then.....
