San Juan Capistrano, CA — The OC turned into the “Mosquito Coast” this weekend as JV Prep lost all 3 matches by the identical scores of 6-12. (Ha! Ha! … a dad joke that only your grandparents would appreciate……the “go to” mosquito repellent in the ‘50’s and ‘60’s was a product simply named “6-12”. We coaches predicted the rematch would be closer, and while the score does not reflect that, the scoreboard does. There were 6 TIEBREAKERS, (we only won 2 of those, and also dropped a close 4-6 set as well.) This was a very close match, with a lot of exciting tennis being played and a great group of parents and fan support by both teams. Kudos and MVP honors go out to Maddie Tran and Flo Michael who rebounded from Fridays tough outing to win all 3 sets played in the top half of the draw. Great job. Lucy Nelson and Leona DeGeeter also picked up a set up on court #3. Brie Cobb and Eya Kane crushed it 6-0! when they played together in round 3; Eya continuing on with the trifecta she had yesterday with Eva = 4 wins in 4 sets, well played. Savannah Parrish and Emma Withycombe closed out the afternoon winning 6-3 on court 5 with everybody watching, giving us our 6th set. Next up: CRIMSON Squad home vs SMCHS on Friday, Oct. 18th, while the GOLD Squad travels to Ft. Valley.
