San Clemente, CA — JV Prep (crimson squad) looked good rocking PINK outfits in honor of breast cancer awareness month, played well, but still came up a bit short, 6-12. 2 tie-breaker losses turned to wins would have been 8-10, so it was closer than score suggests. SC is a crazy place to play with dogs, kids and people wandering in and out of the courts, old used tennis balls appearing on the courts, music, dust, freeway noise…..but our players focused and represented JSerra well. All 6 of our wins came from 3 lines of doubles - Kudos and MVP honors to lines #2 (Lucy Nelson and Leona DeGeeter) #3 (Analia Taft and Rilee Lawrence) #5 (Emma Withycombe and Milan Jepsen) - all winning 2 of 3 sets played! Emma and Milan came back from 0-4 to win their 2nd set, great comeback ladies. Gabby Beshara and Olivia Frazier came close with a tie-breaker loss, as did Fiona Huhn and Josie Andersen, both in round #2. Flo Michael and Maddie Tran battled hard up on court 1, where SC assigned their top talent, came close in round 2 with a 4-6 loss. We were pretty close to tying this match 9-9. Everybody got to play 3 full sets of tennis this afternoon with great parent and fan support. Despite the loss, it was a fun afternoon. Gold squad was at home, playing Canyon, losing by the same score 6-12 :( Back at it Saturday afternoon vs Capo Valley, rematch at JSerra.
