San Juan Capistrano, CA — Despite the lopsided match score, there was a lot of good tennis this afternoon, in this all doubles format. Many of the sets were 6-3 or 6-4, with a lot of “no ad, sudden death points.” JSerra swept all 9 sets in the “upper half” of the draw. Two members of line #3, Josie Andersen and Emma Withycombe beat their top team in the 3rd round on court #1. Emily Volk was the other member of the undefeated line 3 trio. Flo Michael, Maddie Tran and Rilee Lawrence swept all 3 sets at line #1, as did Gabe Beshara, Analia Taft, and Olivia Frazier. Well done ladies. Playing line 6 doubles was Aubrey Francisco, Eva Daoud, and Jose Criger. Jose and Eva picked up a set win in their final round on court 4. Lily Kitcher, MVP today, won both sets played at line # 6, one with partner Francesca Gajarsa, the other with Ruthie Manasseh. Winning all 3 sets played at line #5 dubs, congrats and MVP honors to Eya Kane and Bridget Oushanayou. Well played ladies! We coaches were most impressed with the improved level of play across the board and the focus on all 6 courts. It was an enjoyable afternoon of tennis and we had great numbers in the parent fan support. Thank you all for coming out! Next up: tomorrow at Capo Valley, squads A & B, 10 am at Capo Valley. Wear crimson and report to Coach Jena at 9:15.
