Norwalk, CA — Uni went on the road and came away with a convincing 38-0 win vs the John Glenn Eagles of Norwalk. This was the Trojans third win in a row to improve their record to 3-2 before entering the five-game, newly formed Omicron League conference season. The Trojans were able to score three first half touchdowns. The first was a 65-yard scoring strike from sophomore pivot Dylan Elmer to senior wide receiver Carl Oldham. It was Oldham’s 4th TD reception this season and the fifth consecutive game with Elmer throwing a touchdown pass. The second score was a result of sophomore Pierce Fournier blocking a punt and junior Luke Emrich recovering the ball in the end zone. The final score of the half came on a 35-yard scramble by starting quarterback Justin Tribble. Uni continued to score in the second half on 15-yard run by senior running back Damari Carter (his third rushing touchdown this season) and the remainder of the points by Junior Jake Rabold. Rabold kicked a 41-yard field goal and caught a 24-yard scoring pass from Dylan Elmer and added the extra point. Uni did have 13 first downs vs. just half a dozen for Glenn. Uni was just 2 for 9 on third down conversions while Glenn was 4 for 12. On fourth down, Uni was 2 for 3. The Trojans had two touchdowns and a field goal in three red zone opportunities. Damari Carter carried the ball 15 times for 84 yards, Justin Tribble had four rushes for 47 yards and senior Borna Sharafkhanian ran three times for 21 yards. Dylan Elmer led the passing attack going 3 for 5 for 101 yards while Tribble was 3 for 13 for 17 yards. In addition to the 65 yard catch, Oldham had 35 yards on two punt returns for 100 all-purpose yards. Rabold had three catches for 38 yards while Carter had a catch for 12 yards and senior Geoff Soriano had one reception for three yards. On defense Lucas Thune led the way with 7 tackles while Fournier added five. Oldham and Carter each had 4 tackles with Oldham adding a strip fumble recovery. A quartet of Trojans had three tackles each: senior Michael Gasper, junior Diego Sosa, Soriano and Tribble. Junior Max Encheff had a pair of sacks while junior Cruz McMullens had two tackles and an interception. Junior Lucca Clouthier deflected two passes and blocked a punt. Rabold had a career high 14 points: the aforementioned TD and field goal plus five extra points. He also had a 38-yard punt and averaged 59.4 yards on 7 kickoffs (5 were touchbacks). Uni had 6 penalties for 45 yards while the Eagles had 7 for 65. The Trojans kick-off league play this week against Pacifica.
