Warriors fall to 1-3 in a fun game against The Fillmore Raiders Black
Warriors 14, Fillmore Raiders Black 50
Fillmore, CA — The Mighty Mite Warriors were a bit outmatched this week against a much larger and more experienced Fillmore Raiders (Black) team. They were originally slotted to be in division 1, but somehow ended up in division 2 with us. The boys were in great spirits at the end of the game and we all talked about how much we love football after. We lost 50-14.
The offense was still plagued by center-quarterback exchange issues. A problem that will lessen over time with more experience. This week the offense was led by Dylan Fruchtman. Dylan finally had a stat line that he expects he’ll have every week with 3 carries, 82 yards, and 2 touchdowns on the ground. Dylan also completed 4 passes; 2 to Levi Bradshaw and 2 to Joseph Martinez (along with an interception). Levi had a rough day on the ground as our line was outsized and outmatched quite a bit this week. Our speedster got banged up on a hard hit in the 2nd quarter either an arm injury which sidelined him for much of the reminder of the game. One of the completions to Joseph was on a 2pt conversation where he made a nice cut to get into the end zone.
Defense wasn’t great this week. The Warriors let the Raiders run pretty freely around the edge for scores through the first half. Dylan Fruchtman led the defense with 4 tackles, 2 of which were for loss. Theo Gonzalez showed off his talent for finding loose balls in a punt where he came up with a fumble recovery.
It was another long Saturday morning, but the loss seems to bother Coach more than the boys. We’re learning the game and falling in love with it every week. We’re hitting a lot of the goals we set out for on the season, even if we fail to hit the ones in the record books.
On to the Simi Valley Bulldogs next week. We’re optimistic!!!
