Santa Ana, CA — SANTA ANA, Calif. – In the 2018 Santa Ana Homecoming game, the Dons shutdown the LA Southwest Cougars 16-0 to earn their first American Metro League win of the year.
Both teams struggled to move the ball and put points on the board all night, but the Dons managed to knock in three field goals to build a 9-0 lead by the fourth quarter.
LA Southwest attempted to get on the board one last time late in the fourth, but Santa Ana's Samuel Warren II ended the drive with an 80-yard interception for the only touchdown of the game.
With the win, Santa Ana snapped a two-game losing streak to improve to 2-3 overall while the Cougars drop to 1-5.
GAME NOTES
Santa Ana running backs controlled this game as Josh Hill ran for a season high 103 yards on 19 carries the lead the Dons rushing attack while Kenneth Lamb and Qadir Dean combined for 84 yards.
The Dons defense was anchored by Brett Ferguson, who recorded two sacks and eight total tackles and Samuel Warren II who took back an interception for a touchdown and added six tackles and a forced fumble.
