San Juan Capistrano, CA — The Lions opened the 2nd round of Trinity League play with a hard-fought gritty comeback over OLu by way of total game count; 73 to 65! This avenges a previous 8-10 loss at OLu 2 weeks ago. JSerra loaded up in doubles and were able to pick up 7 sets there as Scarlett picked up 2 singles wins. Scarlett was 5-7 in the first round, but only gave up 1 game in the next 2 rounds, winning 6-1, 6-0. Milana and Peyton added a handful of games which made a big difference. Every little bit helps! Ellie and Juliana lost a very close set, 5-7 in the opening round at line #1 doubles then came back strong with 6-3, 6-0 victories. Isabella and Naomi had a rough outing vs line #1 team in round 2, but also took their other 2 sets, 6-1, 6-0. Brookelyn and Aerin were able to outplay the line 1 team easily, 6-1. After winning their first 2 rounds, 6-0, 6-1. These sets were paramount in the total game count as our doubles outscored OLu 49 to 21. There are 6 sets in each round; JSerra was down 2-4 at the end of round 1, we split 3-3 in the 2nd. Starting the 3rd round down in total game count by 5, the girls knew they were in for a dogfight, but took 4 of the remaining 6 as the game count deficit was erased and surpassed! Big time finish! Thank you to our parents and fans, JV prep teams, our teachers and counselors "of the day" and also Emily Moran for hosting teacher appreciation day! We appreciate ALL of you. You helped make a difference for sure today! We are at Laguna Hills Monday GO LIONS!!!
