McDonald, PA — The Lions (1-0) continue their 2024 mission entering game 2 welcoming the Shaler Titans (1-0). The Lions are coming off an opening night win, shutting out their rivals 26-0. Offensively, Drew Welhorsky and the offensive line shined producing 3 rushing TDs for the QB and a passing TD to TE Tyler Wright. Not to be outdown, the defense pitched the shutout, answering the bell on the first drive to stop the Colts at the 2 yard line on 4th down. Defensively, #6 Trey Potteiger sparked the team with the first turnover of the season which setup the offense for their first score. The defensive line was led by newcomer Anthony Charles who had 2 solo sacks and 2 assists. The Shaler Titans got their season started right by beating the Butler Tornados on the road 20-14. They entered the 4th quarter with a 20-0 lead before giving up some late tallies. The first half was a back and forth defensive slugfest as the Titans would score the only points of the half on a 36 yard field goal by Senior Riley Douglas.However in the second half, the Titans would go to the ground attack as Senior Running Back Joe Rispoli would lead the charge with two touchdowns, one from a yard out and the other a 41 yard run. Rispoli would eclipse the 100-yard mark as he would rush 16 times for 109 yards. Although the Golden Tornado would fight back with touchdown of their own, an interception by Sophomore Jayden Conrad in the Titan end zone would help seal the season-starting victory for the Titans.
