GCC Football leads wire to wire to beat West Los Angeles College 44-20 Oct. 5 to improve to 3-1 this season

Glendale, CA — It took exactly two minutes and 43 seconds for the Glendale College Football Team to exert its will over visiting West Los Angeles College on Oct. 5 as Elijah Gipson returned an interception 51-yards for a touchdown to give the Vaqs a quick 7-0 first quarter lead on the way to a 44-20 win at Sartoris Field to improve to 3-1 this season.
GCC was so efficient on this day that the visitors had advantages in total offense and plays run but the Vaqueros scored early and often to lead 17-0 after the first quarter, 24-6 at the half and 44-6 after three quarters to win. Freshman quarterback Jackson Askins passed for four touchdowns and 178 yards on 13 completions in 22 attempts and Jake Wisener caught five passes for 79 yards and two scores and Jason Sanford Jr. caught four passes for 70 yards and two touchdowns. The kicking game has also been very effective this season as Alejandro Peyeyra had five points on a field goal and two extra points and Paolo Sosa had three extra points.
Defensively, Brooklyn Pasten had eight tackles (three solo) as well as an assisted sack and a tackle for a loss to pace the effort. Dario Sandoval added seven tackles (three solo) as well as a solo sack and an assisted tackle for a loss, Sebastian Herrate had six tackles (two solo) and Nathanial DeLeon had five tackles (four solo) and a tackle for a loss.
